Abstract. The article reveals the essence of mentoring, gives description of its forms and methods. Since the middle of the 20th century, mentoring has acquired the character of mass movement – mentoring in secondary school, as one of the forms of methodological work, is defined as the help of an experienced teacher to young specialist or trainee “to adapt to new conditions of activity, to consolidate number of primary skills necessary in these conditions.” In the twentieth century, it was possible to separate mentoring in the professional and educational spheres, and in the twenty-first century, these boundaries are blurring. The paper focuses on the main models of mentoring, such as traditional, partner, group, flash mentoring, speed, reverse and virtual mentoring. Also in the article attention is paid to the mentoring program implemented in the MBOU secondary school No. 196 in Novosibirsk
