Abstract. The article considers the current conditions for the formation of key competencies that are necessary and in demand in the XXI century in accordance with the objectives of state policy in the field of education. The analysis showed that it is possible to ensure the improvement of the quality of education by developing system of their assessment with the help of new, dynamic solutions, including the introduction of one of the educational technologies – formative assessment. The paper uses the results of regional study «The attitude of teachers of the Altai territory to the development of formative assessment technology». Based on the results of study conducted among teachers of General education organizations in the Altai territory, the author developed textbook «Paths of formative assessment» as part of the author’s team.
