Abstract.
Introduction. The article examines the role of sports programming in ensuring the technological sovereignty of the Russian Federation and in shaping the spiritual and moral values of student youth in the context of modern geopolitical challenges. The aim of the study is to substantiate the potential of intellectual competitions as a tool for training future highly qualified personnel for critically important technological fields and for their value socialization.
Methodology. The methodological basis of this study is the integration of three interrelated and mutually complementary approaches – systemic, activity based, and competence based. The main idea of the work is that the sport of “sports programming” serves not only as a type of competitive activity but also as a means of developing the super professional competencies of IT specialists, as well as an effective mechanism for patriotic education, fostering team spirit, and promoting professional responsibility.
Results. The experimental base for the study is the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Donetsk National Technical University” (DonNTU). The experimental work was carried out over a period of three years (2023–2026), and it involved 510 full-time students and 15 teachers. The practical implementation at DonNTU included: introducing topics on sports programming into the curricula of the “Introduction to Specialties” and “Fundamentals of Software Engineering” disciplines for students majoring in 09.03.04 “Software Engineering”; holding 17 competitions at various levels between 2024 and 2026; and forming a DPR national team in sports programming.
Conclusions. Based on an analysis of current scientific approaches, it is proven that systemic support for the introduction of such an innovative tool as sports programming into the educational process contributes to the formation of a generation of specialists capable of ensuring the country’s technological independence while remaining committed to traditional values. The results of this work confirm the need to integrate important practices of sports programming into the educational environment of universities in order to strengthen the country’s human resources and national security.
